General Description of Position
The Director of Instruction for STEM plays a crucial role in the coaching, training, and supervision of instructional staff in the math, science, and digital media arts departments. There are 8 standards that are vital to this role.
- Planning and implementation of curriculum
- Continuous coaching and training
- Professional development and growth of instructional staff
- Recruitment and hiring of content teachers and special educators within the departments
- Observation and evaluation of instructional staff
- Prioritizes school goals and general school support
- Engages and collaborates as it pertains to the Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)

- Demonstrates a Team First mindset, through proactive contributions to the community, and advances his/her practice through reflection, development opportunities, participation in the professional community, and actively engaging families and community members.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of customer service and what supports our "customers" needs (staff/parents/community members); supports subordinates and peers in connecting with our "customers" in this way as well.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Has real command of pedagogy
- Has strong leadership skills
- Math Regents Exam Knowledge in Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2
- Must have knowledge of NexGen Standards
- Has some knowledge of NY Secondary Science Standards
- Has extensive relevant teaching experience
- Demonstrates a willingness and ability to examine and implement changes necessary to produce effective and efficient systems that, ultimately, contribute to increased teacher effectiveness
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication
- Has a high capacity for problem-solving, a demonstrated ability to manage numerous tasks and competing demands, and communication skills that foster collaboration with numerous internal and external stakeholders
Salary:
The salary range for this role is: $125,000-$135,000
